Sustainable and free of CO2 energy cycles in public and private transportation, based on Hydrogen, available - whenever and wherever needed

It all started with Fuel Cells (FC) and H2 Internal Combustion Engines (ICE)

  • The sun provides energy, Solar Thermal Power Plants, Wind Power Plants and Photovoltaic Plants catch it for us.
  • Hydrogen is the storage and transport medium of the energy.
  • Fuel Cells give us a very efficient way to produce from Hydrogen electric power and heat.
  • In the whole circle from renewable to electrical energies they are the final element.
  • Sustainable electrical energy becomes available through Hydrogen, based on its chemical energy, and Fuel Cells - whenever and wherever it is needed:
    • In vehicles
    • For heat and electricity at home
    • For listening music on mp3 players.
  • Internal Combustion Engines use the chemical energy of Hydrogen directly - whenever and wherever it is needed:
    • In vehicles etc.

Hydrogen propulsion vehicles are now proven and ready for large scale rollout

  • Fuel Cell and Internal Combustion (H2) based vehicles
(cars, buses etc.) are now available in pilot series and on the street in various local settings
  • There are already a few globally leading providers of H2 vehicles, which will soon provide the base for sufficient capacities to satisfy the demand of the first time movers among their customers in this H2 Technology Adoption Life Cycle

  • The Stavanger (Hydrogen) Highway
This Highway enables drivers of vehicles with H2 propulsion to benefit from a H2 fueling station network along the Highway from Oslo to Stavanger...

Hydrogen vehicle fueling technology is now far advanced

  • Hydrogen fueling technologies for gaseous (FC) and liquid (ICE) formats are proven, reliable and secure
  • A substantial network of Hydrogen fueling stations has been established at various global pilot areas
  • Some global normalization efforts are still needed
  • A few globally operating companies are driving these developments, like:
    • Linde AG (www.linde.com)
    • Hydrogenics along with partners (www.hydrogenics.com)
    • Norsk Hydro along with partners (www.hydro.com)
    • others

Hydrogen production turns into a local or even mobile effort

  • Hydrogen Power Electrolysers are now available in scalable formats for static or mobile (on trucks) local H2 production, onsite at the fueling station
  • Power Electrolysers are scalable to the daily local Hydrogen demand of a fueling station
  • Two globally leading companies have recently tremendously far advanced these technologies:
    • Norsk Hydro (www.hydro.com)
    • Hydrogenics (www.hydrogenics.com)
    • others

The Hydrogen sustainable energy cycle closes with the availability of Thermal Solar Power Plants

  • Solar Thermal and Solar Chimney:
Currently there are globally two companies, far advanced in the technologies of Solar Thermal and Solar Chimney, which will soon provide the base for sufficient capacities to satisfy the predominantly amount of the global energy demand:
    • Abengoa Solar (www.abengoasolar.com / see picture Solúcar  )
    • Solar Millennium AG (www.solarmillennium.com / see pictures Andasol and Manzanares )
  • The electrical energy obtained by Thermal Solar Power Plants, provided through the existing Power Grid, forms the growing sustainable energy base for the onsite Hydrogen production at the fueling station, based on Power Electrolyzers. Available electrical energy from Wind Power Plants and Photovoltaic Power Plants, provided through the same existing Power Grid, will be a substantial augmentation to this sustainable energy base.

The Hydrogen breakthrough requires joint efforts

  • Joint efforts of public authorities and proven industry leaders needed
    • Local governments are to dedicate local programs including some selected Hydrogen focal regions for integration and demonstration of required sustainable energy and Hydrogen technologies, primarily in transportation
    • International leading companies in Hydrogen and sustainable energy technologies are to be attracted to join these local programs
    • International leading and innovative engineers are to be attracted to move into these focal regions, characterized by beneficiary and well balanced living and working conditions ('Silicon Valley factors'), even for accompanying family members
  • Together with partners, ISCEER is currently approaching the local government of Andalusia to establish such a focal region in a well prepared area of Andalusia...
